Automated to optimise the composting process
The Gaia EnviroTech In-Vessel Rapid Composter provides a versatile cost-effective, turn-key solution to transform organic wastes into a nutrient rich product and income stream.
The system is designed with simplicity of operation in mind to allow for minimum touch time, and remote monitoring and operation. The rapid composting system can be arranged to meet local space requirements and commissioned with minimal disruption to existing infrastructure and operations. Developed specifically for on-site applications, the system is designed with the noise and odour expectations associated with residential settings in mind.

Benefits

Reduced capital investment required
Gaia pays for the infrastructure to be installed on local grounds.

Reduced waste miles
Gaia’s service model brings composting infrastructure to your doorstep. No need to ship waste elsewhere, reducing waste miles.

Operated by Gaia
Gaia is overseeing the operation and maintenance of the Rapid Composting Systems utilise remote monitoring to ensure optimal process control for end-product quality.

Modular
All of Gaia’s technology is designed to be modular and can be expanded or moved to suit changing operations.

High quality compost
The final product is high-quality compost beneficial for community use.

No odour
Raw materials are processed in a closed (in-vessel) system, minimising odours on site, rather than being windrowed in the open.

Leachate management
The in-vessel system captures all leachate and prevents access by pests. Leachate is constantly recycled back into the process.

Real-time feedback and control
Air flow is controlled to maintain temperate and oxygen concentration, ensuring effective pasteurisation for weed seed and pathogen destruction.

Fast composting process
The process operates on a 2-week in-vessel cycle, followed by a 6–8-week maturation period once the material is removed from the container.

Lab testwork
The compost undergoes strict product testing at our in-house Biolab, ensuring environmental compliance, safety and high product value.
Case studies
Our partnership with Gaia EnviroTech has changed how we approach resource recovery in Hepburn Shire. By integrating innovative solutions like the Rapid Composting System, we are not only providing a solution for collection of organics but also enhancing soil health and fostering community engagement. This collaboration embodies the principles of a circular economy, turning organics into valuable resources and creating a sustainable model that benefits both our environment and our residents.
The Ararat Rural City Council Rapid Composters were successfully installed onsite at our transfer station and performed to specification; reaching pasteurisation temperature within a few hours. We are very satisfied with the service, quality of compost produced and performance of Gaia EnviroTech – supporting us in our FOGO treatment challenge.
Hepburn Shire Council

Gaia has been working closely with Hepburn Shire Council since 2021, initially deploying a prototype of their innovative In-Vessel Rapid Composting System for trial purposes. Through these collaborative efforts, Gaia fine-tuned the system, enhancing its efficiency and ensuring good compost quality.
The trial unit proved its value by achieving pasteurisation, a crucial step in eliminating pathogens and preparing compost for soil rejuvenation, while Hepburn Shire Council minimised the contamination in the end-product. Building on this success Gaia has installed two new in-vessel composting cells at Hepburn Shire Council’s Creswick Transfer Station site to address their FOGO (food organics and garden organics) challenges across the community.
Ararat Rural City Council

Ararat Rural City Council (ARCC) in collaboration with Gaia EnviroTech established a Rapid Composter facility designed for treating 1000 – 1500 tonnes per year of organic waste collected as part of a new kerbside green-bin service offered by the Council. Gaia EnviroTech and ARCC are working together to provide opportunities to utilise the compost created for various municipal and community applications.
Shredding services
In conjunction with our rapid composting services our team offers shredding services. Gaia EnviroTech shreds your waste into valuable, sustainable resources. Our dedicated team brings the shredder equipment directly to your location, and our skilled services team expertly mulches your materials on-site.
Gaia’s service offering includes a transportable screen which can produce 20mm product.
The end-product is a super fine mulch that’s ideal for re-sale or starting your composting journey (depending on the material shredded). However, our team can also shred the material a larger size depending on your requirements.
