Best wishes for a great Christmas break

Dec 19, 2024 | Staff

As we approach the close of 2024, we reflect on a year of growth, innovation, and collaboration at Gaia EnviroTechThis year has been pivotal as interest in our modular technologies and service offerings in the organic waste management and bioenergy space continues to grow exponentially.

The Gaia team is passionate about delivering world-leading solutions that deliver better soil health (for nutritious food production and carbon absorption), reduce methane emissions and deliver renewable gas. Dispatchable renewable energy in the form of biogas is an essential part of Australia’s energy mix going forward and is a critical technology to achieve circular economy ambitions. Gaia is excited to be part of the solution.

Victorian Government releases Renewable Gas Directions Paper

As President of the Victorian Bioenergy Network (VBN) our Chair Elizabeth Lewis-Gray welcomed The Honourable Lily D’Ambrosio MP, Minister for Climate Action, Energy and Resources, and Minister for State Electricity to the VBN’s recent networking event this week to present and launch the Victorian Government’s Renewable Gas Directions PaperThe Victorian Government has identified the important role that renewable gas has to play in decarbonisation for industrial gas users and has proposed a certificate scheme to help accelerate project development. Submissions are due by February 7, 2025. Please take the time to make a submission and connect with the VBN who will be engaging with our community and network to facilitate this.

Gaia Rapid Composting delivers results for FOGO treatment and soil health

The success of our Gaia Rapid Composter technology and operating service contracts for the treatment of FOGO (Food Organics and Garden Organics)  is making a real impact, particularly in regional councils. Capital raised late in 2023 has been utilised to deliver Gaia Rapid Composting solutions for the treatment of FOGO for Ararat Rural City Council and Hepburn Shire Council.

“Our partnership with Gaia EnviroTech has changed how we approach resource recovery in Hepburn Shire. By integrating innovative solutions like the Rapid Composting System, we are not only providing a solution for collection of organics but also enhancing soil health and fostering community engagement. This collaboration embodies the principles of a circular economy, turning organics into valuable resources and creating a sustainable model that benefits both our environment and our residents.”

– Bradley Thomas, CEO, Hepburn Shire Council

Great outcomes for 2024 include Ellinbank installation and the development and commitment of our Gaia team members

One of the standout achievements for our team was the successful installation and (bio)commissioning of the Gaia Anaerobic Digestion (AD) system at the Victorian Government Dairy SmartFarm in Ellinbank, Gippsland. This system is a pioneering example of how AD technology can be applied to pasture-based dairy operations. With practical completion finalised in November, we’re excited to showcase the system’s capabilities in the new year.

We also want to celebrate the incredible dedication of our team members, especially Senior Process Engineer Georges Delemontex, who recently marked a milestone of 19 years in his career with Gekko Systems (our sister company) and Gaia EnviroTech, and our Operational Supervisor Ryan Ryrie, who reached a 13-year anniversary with the Gaia and Gekko team.

Meeting with our partners, clients, and colleagues throughout the year remains a highlight. Whether it’s at open days, conferences such as AORA, All-Energy, Waste EXPO, or the Victorian Bioenergy Networking events, these opportunities to connect in person are always great.

Our team will be taking a break from the close of business on Friday, December 20 during the holiday season. A smaller team will be available for support during this period, they can be contacted on 03 5339 3194. We’ll be back in the office on Monday, January 6, recharged and ready to face the exciting opportunities that 2025 holds.

On behalf of everyone at Gaia EnviroTech, we wish you a joyous holiday season, a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year. We are excited to continue working with you toward a sustainable future in 2025 and beyond!
